Detailed Description

A class implementing a Weld Constraint.

A WeldConstraint eliminates up to 6 dofs of a model by fixing two PhysicalFrames together at their origins aligning their axes. PhysicalFrames are generally Ground, Body, or PhysicalOffsetFrame attached to a PhysicalFrame. The underlying Constraint in Simbody is a SimTK::Constraint::Weld.

const std::string &  frame1Name,
const std::string &  frame2Name
)

Convenience Constructor.

Create a WeldConstraint between two PhysicalFrames, frame1 and frame2.

Parameters
[in]namethe name of this WeldConstraint
[in]frame1Namethe name of the first PhysicalFrame being constrained
[in]frame2Namethe name of the second PhysicalFrame being constrained

◆ WeldConstraint() [3/4]

OpenSim::WeldConstraint::WeldConstraint ( const std::string &  name,
const PhysicalFrame frame1,
const SimTK::Vec3 &  locationInFrame1,
const SimTK::Vec3 &  orientationInFrame1,
const PhysicalFrame frame2,
const SimTK::Vec3 &  locationInFrame2,
const SimTK::Vec3 &  orientationInFrame2
)

Backwards compatible Convenience Constructor Construct a WeldConstraint where the weld frames are specified in terms of their location and orientation in their respective PhysicalFrames.

Parameters
[in]namethe name of this WeldConstraint
[in]frame1the first PhysicalFrame that the weld constrains
[in]locationInFrame1Vec3 of the location of the weld in the first frame
[in]orientationInFrame1Vec3 of the XYZ body-fixed Euler angles of the weld frame orientation in frame 1.
[in]frame2the second PhysicalFrame that the weld constrains
[in]locationInFrame2Vec3 of the location of the weld in the second frame
[in]orientationInFrame2Vec3 of the XYZ body-fixed Euler angles of the weld frame orientation in frame2.

◆ WeldConstraint() [4/4]

OpenSim::WeldConstraint::WeldConstraint ( const std::string &  name,
const PhysicalFrame frame1,
const SimTK::Transform &  transformInFrame1,
const PhysicalFrame frame2,
const SimTK::Transform &  transformInFrame2
)

Convenience Constructor Construct a WeldConstraint where the weld frames are specified in terms of their transforms in their respective PhysicalFrames.

Parameters
[in]namethe name of this WeldConstraint
[in]frame1the first PhysicalFrame that the weld constrains
[in]transformInFrame1Transform of the weld in the first frame
[in]frame2the second PhysicalFrame that the weld constrains

Member Function Documentation

◆ clone()

WeldConstraint * OpenSim::WeldConstraint::clone ( ) const
inlineoverridevirtual

Create a new heap-allocated copy of the concrete object to which this Object refers.

It is up to the caller to delete the returned object when no longer needed. Every concrete object deriving from Object implements this pure virtual method automatically, via the declaration macro it invokes (e.g., OpenSim_DECLARE_CONCRETE_OBJECT()). Note that the concrete class overrides modify the return type to be a pointer to the concrete object; that still overrides the base class method because the return type is covariant with (that is, derives from) Object.

Implements OpenSim::TwoFrameLinker< Constraint, PhysicalFrame >.

◆ extendAddToSystemAfterSubcomponents()

void OpenSim::WeldConstraint::extendAddToSystemAfterSubcomponents ( SimTK::MultibodySystem &  system) const
overrideprotected

Extend Component Interface.

◆ getClassName()

static const std::string & OpenSim::WeldConstraint::getClassName ( )
inlinestatic

This returns "WeldConstraint"

See getConcreteClassName() if you want the class name of the underlying concrete object instead.

◆ getConcreteClassName()

const std::string & OpenSim::WeldConstraint::getConcreteClassName ( ) const
inlineoverridevirtual

Returns the class name of the concrete Object-derived class of the actual object referenced by this Object, as a string.

This is the string that is used as the tag for this concrete object in an XML file. Every concrete class derived from Object automatically overrides this method via the declaration macro it uses. See getClassName() to get the class name of the referencing (possibly abstract) class rather than the concrete object.

See also
getClassName()

Implements OpenSim::TwoFrameLinker< Constraint, PhysicalFrame >.

◆ safeDownCast()

static WeldConstraint * OpenSim::WeldConstraint::safeDownCast ( OpenSim::Object obj)
inlinestatic

For use in MATLAB and Python to access the concrete class.

Example: cObj = WeldConstraint.safeDownCast(obj). This is equivalent to dynamic_cast<WeldConstraint*>(obj) in C++.

◆ setContactPointForInducedAccelerations()

virtual void OpenSim::WeldConstraint::setContactPointForInducedAccelerations ( const SimTK::State &  s,
SimTK::Vec3  point
)
overridevirtual

Advanced Method for computing induced accelerations given the constraint applied at the point of contact specified.
